GUEST: Together with her brother, Executive Director Bill Shore, and Managing Director Pat Nicklin, Associate Director, Debbie Shore oversees the general direction, long-term planning and strategy for Share Our Strength®, the nation’s leading organization working to end childhood hunger in America. In addition to leading the organization’s efforts to cultivate and build the next generation of leaders in the fight against hunger, Shore also leads the organization’s newest initiative, Share Our Strength’s Great American Dine Out™, presented by American Express®. This national campaign mobilizes thousands of restaurants and diners across America during one week in the fall to raise millions of dollars to help end childhood hunger. Shore co-created, directed, and continues to oversee Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation®, the nation’s largest and finest culinary benefit dedicated to making sure no kid in America grows up hungry. Now in its 20th year, the annual event has raised more than $70 million and has built a nationwide network of thousands of volunteers in more than 55 cities. MAKING SURE NO KID IN AMERICA GROWS UP HUNGRY...

Why We Are Focusing on Childhood Hunger
In the world’s wealthiest nation, no child should grow up hungry. Yet, more than 12 million children in America are at risk of hunger. That’s one in six with limited or uncertain access to the nutritious foods they need to develop to their full potential. Despite its devastating and highly visible consequences, childhood hunger is invisible. You can’t see it just by looking, and you can’t measure it in pounds, but it is among us: It affects black, white, Asian and Hispanic, short and tall, thin and chubby. Poverty is complex; feeding a child is not. Despite the good efforts of governments, private-sector institutions and everyday Americans, not all of our children have daily access to the nutritious meals they need to live active, healthy lives. Through dedicated, committed volunteers and community organizations, Share Our Strength® finds childhood hunger where it hides, and works to end it.
How We Will End Childhood Hunger
In 2004, Share Our Strength® developed its national strategy to end childhood hunger in America. This strategy is focused on long-term solutions that support access to nutritious food and healthy food choices — the difference between feeding a family tonight, and ensuring that they never have to worry about when their next meal will come. It is designed to bridge the gaps between existing, effective programs and the families who need them.
At its core are three sensible goals:
- Increase access to public and private programs that provide food to children and their families
- Strengthen community infrastructure and systems that connect children to healthy food
- Improve families’ knowledge about available programs and how to get the most from limited resources.
We are accomplishing these goals by supporting the most successful antihunger organizations in the United States through our 10-point plan to end childhood hunger.
HOW WE RAISE FUNDS TO END CHILDHOOD HUNGER...
Share Our Strength® has created a diverse portfolio of fundraising efforts: events which engage the culinary industry and food lovers; corporate partners; foundations; individual donors; and our state partnerships. All play a critical role in our strategy to end childhood hunger in America.

Our Culinary Events
Our culinary events raise funds to support our state partnerships, our grantmaking efforts across the country, and our own chef-led nutrition education program, Operation Frontline.

HOST: SHIRLEY W. MITCHELL, National Author/Writer/Columnist/Speaker
GUEST: JOHN LESIEUR, President & CEO of People CD, Inc. - The Zach Browser
TOPIC: AN OCEAN OF OPPORTUNITY
EPISODE DESCRIPTION: This week Host Shirley W. Mitchell will be joined by her "Guest", John LeSieur, President & CEO of People CD, Inc., the inventors of "The Zach Browser" for Autistic Children and KIDZ CD for children all of ages, as they discuss "An Ocean of Opportunity" with... PeopleCD, The Kidz CD Zone, and the Zac Browser For Autistic Children.
GUEST: There's a new place on the web designed specifically for children with autism and autism spectrum disorders. Zac browser for autistic children is a hot spot where kids with autism can independently surf the web and interact. Zac browser even has a forum where parents and caregivers can stay connected and find links to relevant websites. People CD, Inc. is a Nevada corporation with the broad based objective of simplifying technology by continuously providing new dimensions of interaction through innovative Internet applications that are focused on the specific needs of defined user groups, such as: children, business people, travelers, as well as a myriad of others.
People CD, Inc. currently has two distinct applications released. Kidz CD, which organizes and safely presents the Internet to children in 4 age groups; and ZAC Browser, which organizes and provides children facing the challenges of autism with a safe and meaningful connection to explore the Internet through interaction with games, music, media and books. Each of these applications is proving to be quite successful. In keeping with the corporate objective of People CD, Inc. we are currently under development on some ground breaking applications which, in our estimation, will dramatically change the way the world interfaces with all types of technology from computers, laptops, cell phones, televisions, cars and etc. the list is limitless. We are confident that our company name will be known worldwide for it’s focus on innovation and it’s dedication to honesty.

John LeSieur is a native of Canada’s largest province, Quebec. Having been born in one of the oldest cities in North America, John embraces traditional values and uses technology to reach into the future with out losing touch with the values that make him a great husband, father, and grandfather. John’s first language is French, and he speaks English fluently. John has enjoyed working in the computer technology field for 29 years and is President and CEO of People CD, Inc., a software company. His impressive knowledge, and knack for innovation, coupled with his inherent honesty and loyalty earned him a valued position as the trusted technology advisor to many major banks in Canada. In this position John was instrumental in facilitating the transition of the Canadian banking industry from paper based banking transactions to electronic banking. Innovation in a technical mind is a rare combination to find, and John has certainly been given a gift for bringing new and exciting original ideas into existence through his creative abilities and his amazing technical skills.

So he took particular interest when computers seemed mostly useless to his 6-year-old grandson, Zackary Villeneuve of Saint Remi, Quebec. The boy has autism, and the whirlwind of options presented by PCs so confounded him that he threw the mouse in frustration. LeSieur tried to find online tools that could guide autistic children around the Web, but he couldn't find anything satisfactory. So he had one built, named it the Zac Browser For Autistic Children in honor of his grandson, and is making it available to anyone for FREE !
Since the year 2000, John has dedicated his professional life to making a major positive impact in the lives of people around the world. His goal is to use his extreme talent for innovation and his love of technology to organize and simplify the computer industry, making technology more useful and more accessible to people of all countries, all ages, and all abilities. LeSieur's quest is a reminder that while the Web has created important communication and educational opportunities for some people with cognitive impairments, computers can also introduce new headaches for families trying to navigate the contours of disability. We have created ZAC Browser out of a deeply felt need of our own. In 2002 we were blessed with a beautiful grandson, Zackary. At an early age Zackary began displaying classic signs of a pervasive development disorder (PDD) and was diagnosed as severely autistic in 2005. We have the deepest love for our daughter and grandson and it is out of this heartfelt emotion that we used our talent to tailor a web browser specifically for Zackary and children facing similar development disorders of the brain.

We are the creators of Kidz CD - a wonderful Internet browser for children of all ages that is FREE ! We provide a safe, age appropriate place for kids to "surf" the Internet in their own specially designed world - where fun, educational and entertaining sites are available and they are fully protected in the secure Kidz CD zone. In our first release of Kidz CD we were amazed that our grandson Zackary was able to play freely within the browser. His mother continually told us how Kidz CD tremendously helped to calm Zackary and how his use of Kidz CD made him much less violent in his interactions with others and with objects - a HUGE triumph for her everyday! It was like a fantastic playground for Zackary - it freed his mind and allowed him to relate and interact successfully without the frustrating limitation of speech and social acceptance.
When this amazing door opened to us - to our family- it was obvious that this fantastic playground of Zackary's was meant to be shared with the world - so on behalf of our family and especially Zackary "Welcome to Zackary's Playground! - ZAC Browser". Our hope is that your family will experience the same peace and freedom that our family now enjoys!
Welcome to ZAC Browser - Zone for Autistic Children You have found the best environment on the Internet for your autistic child.
