GUEST: DANA HALL, Editor of Passionate for Life Magazine

TOPIC: THE EXCITEMENT OF PASSIONS IN LIFE

EPISODE DESCRIPTION: This week Host Shirley W. Mitchell will be joined by Dana Hall, Editor of Passionate for Life Magazine as they discuss "The Excitement of Passions in Life" with... Transition of Life - Mother to Editor, The Authenticity of Life, The Power of Passion, and Passion+Fulfillment=Gratitude.

GUESTDana Hall's story is of renewal and reinvention at mid-life. I am a 46-year-old wife and mother of two. I feel as if my life has just begun. Before kids, I was a Senior Underwriter for a National insurance Company. I remember being 30 years old, working at a career that did not bring me joy, and thinking how wonderful it would be to have a job that I loved. At that time, I had no idea what that job would be. Fifteen years ago, my first child was born with a major birth defect; he was born without an esophagus. Years of surgeries and stress, and my husband and I found ourselves in counseling. Fortunately, the counselor asked me the question, "What are your hopes and dreams?" I had no idea. Dana then embarked upon a journey of self-discovery. I learned to live my life authentically. Dana learned that the old, negative thoughts that kept her in a box were untrue. I learned to trust myself and to take a chance on my dreams and myself. I concluded that life should be lived fully, and with passion. My dream is to inspire others to discover their passions, and live their passionate life. I created Passionate for Life, the online magazine for living one's passionate life. I enlisted passionate writers and life coaches who are passionate about living one's best life. On Passionate for Life, we address the key elements of living life with passion. We explore the power of passion; how to discover one's passion; how to live a life of purpose, authentically and with passion; the art of living passionately; finding your dream career; and reinventing oneself at mid-life and much more. Dana has always had a Passion for Life. Some of my earliest memories are of fishing with my father and being allowed to drive the boat, (as fast as possible). Later, as a high-school teenager, I founded a club with my friends to explore our world through hiking, cross-country skiing, mountain climbing, backpacking and camping in the mountains, and at the ocean, exploring Yosemite and other wonderful California locations. As a young adult, I planned camping trips, wine tasting adventures, seaside vacations, and gatherings for family and friends. A couple of years ago, I suggested the idea of a Girl's Night Out group among friends, and 'The Divas' were born. We have enjoyed Karaoke, themed dinners, Pajama Parties, Games Nights, Chick-Flick Movie Night, Gourmet picnics in the wine country and more. More important, we enjoy the camaraderie, and joy of true friendship. The Divas have given back to the community, as well, fundraising for victims of the Katrina disaster, gathering donations of Christmas toys for needy children, scrap booking for Make-A-Wish children and more.

We are very lucky to live in a time when it is not only acceptable, but encouraged, to reinvent oneself at mid-life. We are paving the path for future generations and changing the "look" of mid-life.
