GUEST: CWJC - Christian Women's Job Corp of Marshall County in Albertville, Alabama is a ministry that combines practical training, relationship building, emotional healing, and spiritual growth to meet a women's daily eternal needs. Curriculum areas include life skills and job readiness proficiencies. The program helps women gain self-respect, self-sufficiency, and hope. The purpose of the Christian Women's Job Corps is to provide a Christian and Missions context in which women in need are equipped for Life, Employment, and for Women helping Women. CWJC is part of the National Women's Missionary Union and affiliated with Southern Baptist Convention. Every year they hold their Annual $Fifteen-Dollar$ Fashion Show with the Famous "Silent Auction". Women "model off" down the runway and those in the audience "bid" on the outfits they are wearing. The monies colected go towards the numerous programs the CWJC sets for Women helping Women. There are now 15 churches across the county who support us with a monthly donation. CWJC had Thirty-Nine (39) women enroll in the classes in 2007, of which 19 women completed the 15 - week program. Most of those who did not complete had to go to work to survive and could not come to classes. We still kept in contact and encouraged those women. The operating budget for CWJC at Cahill is $34,650.00 this year. We provide everything for the women free of charge including childcare, textbooks, paper, pencils and lunch. We have two childcare workers who are paid employees. Second Chance now houses the thrift store and the benevolence ministry. The operating budget for Second Chance includes benevolence and operating expenses and is $65,000.00 this year. We not only help those women enrolled in our program but we have an active benevolence ministry which provides help with utilities, gas, doctor bills, medicine and many other things to anyone who is in need. Those who need help are asked to fill out an application and we network with First Call for Help to screen applicants. Our benevolence ministry has paid out $ $16,857.89 thus far. We have provided food boxes to 201 families with approximately $30.00 worth of food in each box. We have given 312 vouchers for clothing and household goods and have helped 9 families start over after fire or tornado damage. We also provided Christmas gifts for 26 children. The store continues to be the main source of income for the ministry. Women on Missions groups continue to provide food for the food pantry, lunches for the participants, transportation when needed, funding for special needs and praying for us continually. We are very thankful to all the women who have mission’s hearts and minds. First Baptist Church provides for our ministry with a monthly donation of ½ % of your offerings. We appreciate your church willingness to support us.
